Music

Oh solo mio – music is an absolutely essential part of life – at least for me. And I like to listen to a lot of different genres for instance pop, (hard) rock, country music, New Age, Michaela Petri and classical music. Certain genres are less to my liking amongst others Danish Top Ten music (hard to describe to foreigners what that is), jazz and opera. However, compared to techno music and similar genres, even the latter is a joy to listen to. I’ve been to a techno party once, and to this day I cannot derive any pleasure from this music – quite the opposite.

In my childhood I was surrounded by lots of different kinds of music. My dad played the organ at home and took me to classical organ concerts. My oldest brother is 7-8 years older than me, so he played a variety of music from the 70’s/80’s (Black Sabbath, Pat Branigan, Cliff Richard and what have you). My mother l0ved Elvis, Shakin Stevens and the like. Also my oldest brother played the guitar, and when my fingers were long enough I picked up the guitar as well (self-taught to begin with). I’ve also been a member of several choirs, and we worked with a lot of different material. At one point “my” choir performed an American musical called “Down in the Valley”. There were also some soloists from the Danish academy of music, and this was a great an exciting experience. All in all I love music from musicals.

Music to me is like the air we breathe. Without it my world would be a sad place to live in!
